Careers at The Arbor

Thank you for considering a career at The Arbor Salon and Spa.  In considering pursuing your career here, or at any salon and spa, it’s important to recognize the longevity of the business, the goals and beliefs of the business, and the future of the organization.  We at The Arbor Salon and Spa believe that when you strongly consider the listed objectives, you will find The Arbor could very well present the career path you’re seeking.

Salon owner, Janet Prince Kilpatrick, has been in the beauty industry for over 35 years. First as a stylist, then business owner, then Redken performing artist and educator, property developer and business mentor.  Her original salon, Sophisticated Shapes, was an Athens, GA staple from 1985 until 2006 when she closed those doors to open The Arbor Salon and Spa.  During her years as a hair stylist, artist, educator and mentor, Janet’s philosophy has been one of providing a business atmosphere where women and men can build financially successful careers and an environment where they can be passionate, proud, and financially stable for the long run.

Our goal at The Arbor Salon and Spa is for your long term success, commitment to continuing education, and for a career path that could lead to salon ownership.  In 2005, Janet visited The Summit Business Center, the world’s leading salon/spa development organization, in Minneapolis, MN, to investigate changes in the way Sophisticated Shapes could operate as it transformed into The Arbor Salon and Spa. By December, 2005, Janet had brought a Summit coach into the salon monthly to assist in the new direction.  The Arbor – as a Redken Elite Salon and Bioelements World Class Spa – has solidly embraced Summit success principles and has set current stylists onto unexpected career achievements.  Our principles are very goal oriented, which is explained in detail throughout your associate training and coached on a monthly basis.  In our salon environment, there is no guessing as to how you’re performing or if/when you will get to the next promotion.  The Summit program clearly offers the path to your success, including a path leading to becoming a shareholder – or owner – in the salon you’ve helped build.  As a Redken Elite Salon, world class education is offered on a quarterly basis.  In years past, educators such as Michael Cole, Ann Mincey, Chris Sorbie, Monet Colbert and Johnny Stellato have been in salon, offering everything from the latest in cut and color trends and training to personal growth and development sessions.  These quarterly training sessions are offered free of charge to salon personnel and are part of being associated with a Redken Elite Salon.

Consider your options as you embark on your journey to the beginning of a new, exciting career in a salon or spa.  As you are being interviewed by salons, you should be asking your own questions to ensure the salon you choose is the one with your best interests at heart.  Thank you for your time in considering The Arbor Salon and Spa for your future career! Good luck and we look forward to seeing you!
