As most of you know, we have multiple matches for Kajal!!! We need continued prayers for Kajal’s strength to build so that she can undergo the transplant soon.

The UGA/Athens drive was successful beyond imagination and was incredibly rewarding for all involved. With the help of Athens Academy parents, students and grandparents, the University of Georgia, and our community, we registered 2938 in 24 hours! AND another 1066 outside of the 24 hours!! Grand total registered was 4004, not including online registrants. (As an aside: our UGA drive was planned in just under 4 weeks while Auburn planned a recent drive for 6 months, and registered 212! We couldn’t have been prouder of Athens Academy, UGA and our community).

This week we kick off our Fundraiser for Be a Hero for Kajal which will help Kajal and her family.

Purchasing at least one “Silver Ticket” for our Silver Celebration raising money for Be a Hero for Kajal. Only 500 Silver Tickets will be sold for $100 each for our upcoming fundraiser event. At the May 22nd Silver Celebration, we will hold a reverse raffle and the LAST ticket drawn will win $5000 CASH!

Encouraging friends to buy a Silver Ticket. Each ticket purchased admits two to the Silver Celebration, which will be held at Events at The Arbor on Mitchell Bridge Road and will be catered by La Dolce Vita with a cash bar. You do NOT have to be present to win. For those unable to make the event, a great idea is chip in with friends and buy a ticket together: five people could chip in $20 each, and if their ticket is the winning Silver Ticket, they will split $5000 CASH!! We still have several drives planned for various locations in Atlanta as there are many others still looking for a match, including another Athens patient and another 180+ in Georgia alone. We have to use our momentum to help them too!

WHAT: The Shaggy Bob

The “shab” as we lovingly refer to this look, is a cross between a bob and a shag, and comes to life when cut and styled properly. We create this look by using a razor to shape the outline of the cut. It’s meant to have some jagged lines with lots of movement. After the initial shape was finished, we use shears to add extra detail, like the piece-y fringe and feature-enhancing layered side pieces.

WHO SHOULD TRY IT: It’s a great option for women with fine hair that has a little bit of natural texture.

FINISH WITH: Redken’s Wax Blast 10 high impact finishing spray-wax. Spray roots and mid-lengths, then tip your head upside down and blast with blow dryer. Finger comb to create touseled texture- no need to use a brush!

WHAT: The Punky Crop

It’s business on the sides and party on the top—it’s the punk crop, and it’s definitely holding strong as one of the most-requested cuts of the season among the fashion forward types. This cut helps a face just emerge and shine, make sure the hair still covers the ears to keep the look feminine. We use point and slice cutting techniques to give this shape the detail it needs.

WHO SHOULD TRY IT: “This look is suitable for most face shapes. But avoid oblong or rectangular faces. And on  diamond-shaped faces (where the head narrows at the parietal ridge), use vertical cutting technique to fill in the shape.”

This super cool update to the retro pixie, Ashlee Simpson’s version has an asymmetrical, swooped fringe in front with shorter lengths in back. This cut is so hot right now because it’s so versatile,the key to this look is to create a soft, flirty and feathered texture rather than solid lines. We cut around the  perimeter to customize the shape and create details to highlight our client’s best features.

WHO SHOULD TRY IT: It can be styled in many ways, and gives our stylist the option to customize each cut for the client. It works well for all ages and is particularly stunning on oval and square face shapes.”

FINISH WITH: Pureology Nano Glaze Styling Cream to piece out or smooth the texture, depending on your desired result.

WHAT: The Lob

AS SEEN ON: Anna Faris, Tyra Banks, Zoe Saldana

The lob (a.k.a. long bob) is a modern, more fashion forward version of the classic bob that starts at the shoulders and tapers down to the collarbone. It’s a look that has become one of the most frequently requested haircuts in our salon. This versatile style can be created with bangs. A long fringe helps downplay a large forehead (e.g. Tyra), while shorter bangs help to elongate the face.  No bangs is an option, too, for clients who can pull it off and want the lowest-maintenance version possible.

WHO SHOULD TRY IT: It’s a great in-between styles cut, “IT’s perfect for clients who are trying to grow out shorter hair or for our clients with longer hair who want a more styling, retro shape without having to cut too much off.”

FINISH WITH: Pump up the volume with Redken’s Aerate 08 Bodyfying Cream Mousse.

WHAT: The Classic Long Layer

Chest-length hair isn’t easy to pull off, and it can look a little bit boring without a careful cut. We create the swing and movement in this style, we thin the ends of the hair subtly and create a steep angle from the bottom of the jaw with a point and slide cutting techniques.”

WHO SHOULD TRY IT: We offer this style to our clients with oval or square faces to complement their features, and it’s the perfect option for someone with long, silky hair that dries straight with little effort.
